Carl Normand, Chief Therapist
Carl is a health care professional skilled in the art and science of medical radiation treatment delivery. Carl combines the great satisfaction of helping others during a difficult time in their life with the use of high technology equipment and sophisticated scientific techniques. His major focus areas are the primary care of patients, simulations, treatment planning and delivery of treatments using linear accelerator.
Carl has over 25 years of experience in health care. He is a graduate from the University of South Alabama School of Continuing Education & Special Programs and Faulkner University School of Business located in Mobile, Ala. Carl is currently enrolled in a Dosimetry Specialty Certificate Program sponsored by the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologist.
He has multiple credentials from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist in: Radiography, Computed Tomography and Radiation Therapy. He has served on American Society of Radiologic Technologists Radiation Therapy Practice Standards Sub-committee for the 2010-2011 year.
Cancer is very personal to Carl. On December 26, 2008 his four year old daughter was diagnosed with cancer/ Leukemia. He tells all of his patients, "he will treat them just as if they were one of his family members". Although patients and families are sad at times Carl tries to make their time with him more uplifting than down. Because he sees them on a daily basis he takes the opportunity to get to know them and helps to make their strength and courage shine through.
The camaraderie and teamwork among the staff of specialists add to the challenge and satisfaction of the team here at AOC.
